January 2010

Today little Oliver came into hang out. I was so happy to try out some of my new stuff with him, and some of my newly discovered baby whisperer skills. Really is whisperer a word I mean say it to yourself it doesn’t seem right. Anyways the time with Oliver was really sweet. We were a little worried that we weren’t going to get him to sleep at first. But we just hung out and let him do his thing and sure enough mom was able to get him to go down. There really is something so special about a sleeping baby. Thank you guys for coming in and learning with me I had a great time!

These are my favorites of the day!

Today I had so much fun with Lincoln! He has gotten so big since the last time I saw him but he is just as sweet as ever! What a personality on this guy it’s just a joy to watch, even when he is fussy! He is teething so he wasn’t totally sure how he was feeling. But even with that we got some beautiful and fun photos! Aimee I can’t wait for you to see all of them. Thank you so much for coming in what a doll!

Here are a few of my favorites.

Tomorrow morning at the ridiculous hour of 7:40 Olivia will be embarking her personal journey with braces. We had planned on having a photo shoot tonight to give her teeth as we know them their proper send-off. But unfortunately John had to pick her up from school today because she was sick. So instead I will post some of my favorites I have done of Olivia over the years.

I love you Olivia you are a beautiful young lady and I am honored to be a part of your life.

Here is Olivia in no particular order.

Ok I have to stop!

I’m back I know it’s been awhile since my last post, sorry about that.

This weekend I was so thrilled to have a wedding to shoot, I don’t get many winter weddings since I live in the Pacific Northwest, and it couldn’t be for a sweeter couple. Kelsey and Adam’s love was definately the focus of the day there was no doubt about that. Both Adam and Kelsey just gushed about eachother,  not that they needed to you could tell how much love eachother just by looking at them. The energy of the day was wonderful, the support from their friends was amazing. Everyone seemed to really enjoy eachother and had a great time!

I wish the best for both of you! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day and the start of a wonderful life together!

Here are a few of my favorites.

When Lauren contacted me to do a senior session I was so impressed by her maturity right away. She was very well spoken and polite in all her emails. She just seemed so calm and grounded, I was really looking forward to meeting and working with her. When I finally got to meet Lauren face to face I was blown away by how beautiful she was. Some people just have that natural glow about them and Lauren most definitely has it.

We started the session off in the studio which as always is a blast. I still get so excited that I have a space to call my photography “home” now. After the studio we took of to a band new site that I was really excited about. It has a bunch of old worn down barns, beautiful tall grass, and amazing light, basically a photographers playground. As soon as we pulled up and got out of the car we heard kittens crying under a bush nearby. Come to find out it was actually two kittens. We all decide we have to rescue these kittens and Lauren’s mom thankfully wants to make them her own. I have to admit I was a little jealous. I mean these kittens were so cute, I am kicking myself now cause I deleted the photo I took of them with Lauren.

Other than the excitment of the rescue mission the session with Lauren was really mellow and kick back. She was up for anything which was perfect since I had a new place that needed exploring. Lauren was amazing in front of the camera and I truly hope that it’s not the last time I get to take photos of her. Good luck next year Lauren!

Here are some of my favorites from her session.

 Lauren you are amazing!

I love this photo so much!

So I have totally fallen in love with my new 50 1.4 lens! I feel even more excitement to shoot than I normally do which is saying a lot cause I really love to take photos. I often try to think about what it is I REALLY love about taking pictures of people. I love that feeling of capturing that image that makes me feel like WOW. I mean I just look at it and I’m speechless, I know it’s “the one”. What is it about a photo that evokes that feeling? Mostly I think it’s the eyes, I always say it’s all about the eyes. And that for the most part is true but it really comes down to making someone feel when they look at an image.

I just recently did a session with a young lady that I can’t say enough wonderful things about. She is stunning and I mean 6’1″ oh my goodness you are stunning, stunning. (sorry I won’t say stunning again) She was so sweet and easy to work with. As soon as the camera was on her it was like she was born to be in front of it. After the session I was on such a natural high because I felt that WOW moment so many times. Thank you Lanie for being you and I hope we can work together again soon!

Here are some of my favorites from her Portrait Session.

I mean seriously Lanie you are beautiful!

She totally reminds me of an old Hollywood movie star here.

Meeting and photographing Hailey was so much fun! She has such a fun carefree spirt that just lights up a room. We did photos first in the studio. We laughed and danced to the music and got some wonderful images. We then took off to downtown Olympia Wa where Hailey really wanted to get some more urban shots. And of course I was all for that! Here are some of my favorites from my day with Hailey.

I love Liz and Mat they are such good people. When we hang out there is always alot of laughing going on too so that is always a plus. They had a specific idea about something they wanted to do in their entry way and since I had a new lens I wanted to try out I thought what a match made in heaven! So we took some shots in the studio and since I now have the amazing ability to shoot at 1.4 I wanted to. I decided to shoot using just my modeling lights and I loved the effect. Here is the actual layout they will have in there hall except theirs will be in separate 4×4 inch frames.

Happy New Year everyone! I can’t believe we are in the year 2010 how crazy is that. I swear there are days that I still feel 17 I just don’t know where the time has gone.

This year it was going to be just John and I New Years Eve and I was a little bummed. No not because I didn’t want to spend it with John but because almost every year we have been together we have spent it with the girls. So needless to say I was gonna miss that. BUT….as it turns out Olivia didn’t have plans so she was going to come and hang with us. We were just going to eat some treats and watch the Gonzaga Bulldogs kill Oklahoma (which they did). Anyways we got a call from Sloan and her plans fell through too and decided rather than ask us to pick her up she would stay at her moms alone for New Years. When I heard this I just couldn’t imagine her sitting at home by herself. I suggested that we go over and surprise her. Olivia was totally down so we jumped into the car and headed over to Oly to pick her up. Sloan was so happy to see us she was watching America’s Funniest Home Videos and feeling depressed. I just imagined that scene in Bridget Jones Diary when she is all alone singing “All By Myself” by Celien Dion.

Well the evening was wonderful we all just hung out in our room watched the game and I woke everyone up at 12 to celebrate the arrival of 2010. Here are a few pictures with my new 50 1.4. I already love it!
